Make love when you can. It's good for you. (Kurt Vonnegut, Jr.)
Ah - what a great quote! It pretty much says it all - but since I have a blog... I think I'll put my two cents worth in.
I'm sure there are all kinds of reasons that making love is good for you! Endorphins for one. Burning calories for another. Sheer pleasure and enjoyment rank high on the list.
Let's not forget sharing an intimate connection with one person so deep that for a few minutes your bodies and your souls seem as one. It's the glue that holds love together, through bad times and good. It's an element of trust between two people that says, "I have your back at all times and I adore you so much that I want to be consumed by you."
And of course should you desire it, the potential of creating a whole new life, a whole new person comes from this one magical act. A true miracle.
Certainly there are drawbacks. Disease can come with misuse of the gift. Sometimes it is cheapened through media and excess. For some, the act of unity of the spirit becomes a simple, empty act of calisthenics falling so short from the mystery that it was designed for.
Two people become one flesh for a few minutes of pure bliss. It is after all called making love.... it's the perfect culmination of passion. Passion for life in the flesh!
You get the idea. Life gets busy. Stress builds. People become cranky and tired. Making love seems to be one of the first things to go.
Revive the loving. Make love by giving your love flowers. Make love by making a beautiful dinner or going out for drinks and a movie. Make love with an unexpected gift. Make love with a beautiful outing to the sea or some other special place. And finally, make love in the mystery of the night.... candle light, soft music, bubbles... whatever does it for you. Just make love. Take your time... savor, enjoy. It's good for the soul!
